Poems on the radio? You bet! As part of Typewriter Rodeo, I do weekly poems for Austin’s NPR station, KUT. These poems are based on listener suggestions, recorded at KUT’s studios, and broadcast on over 20 public radio stations as part of the “Texas Standard” program.
I also do commissioned poems for TV, like this one for Austin’s KVUE station about “Central Texas Community,” which they accompanied with a wonderful video.
The Dallas Morning News had me write Typewriter Rodeo poems on timely topics, then the paper made them into nifty short videos — like this one about the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing gay marriage.
OTHER CUSTOM POEMS
I also occasionally do custom poems for individuals and groups, like this one for a couple’s wedding on Bainbridge Island, Washington.
“With tears in my eyes, these poems are EXACTLY TENDER, reflective, insightful and WHAT I WANTED – had I known what that was. ☺ Thank you!” —Pam Tokaz, custom poems recipient
